Pick strawberries in Germany – directly with a family farm
We are looking for strawberry pickers for our harvest in Heinsberg (Germany). Work directly with us – no agency and no hidden costs.
Who we are
Erdbeerkulturen Bleilevens is a family farm in Heinsberg, right on the Dutch border. We have been growing strawberries for more than 25 years.
Every year people from many countries work together with us, and many come back every year. It matters to us that everyone is treated fairly and knows exactly what to expect before they arrive.

Most jobs are in the strawberry harvest. We are also looking for experienced people for our quality team and for drivers.
Quality team
You check boxes at the scale in the field and give pickers tips. For experienced pickers. €14.80 per hour + 5% bonus per week if no goods are rejected by the customer because of quality.

You deliver our strawberries to the customer. If needed, you can unload yourself, reverse up to a loading ramp and reverse a semi-trailer around a corner. Bonus: +5% if the goods arrive in good condition throughout the season and there is no major damage to the vehicle. Accidents can happen to anyone – what matters to us is that nothing is hidden. We count on honest cooperation.

You drive the strawberries from the field and stack the boxes on the trailer – so you see the quality directly. Even perfectly picked strawberries get bruised by fast or bumpy driving. That's why you get the same bonus as the quality team: +5% per week if no goods are rejected because of quality. Pickers, quality team and drivers only win together.

Pay 2027 – how it works
Your pay is made up of an hourly wage plus pay for every good box. If you pick good quality, you also get bonuses.
€6.00per harvest hour
4 × €2.15per full Class 1 box (5 kg, 10 punnets) – at 4 boxes per hour = €8.60
€14.60per hour at 4 boxes/hour – the standard
€6.00 + 4 × €2.15 = €14.60 per hour
The German statutory minimum wage is always guaranteed.
For other work, e.g. planting (at least 200 plants per hour), you get €14.60 per hour.
Weekly bonus: +5%
- 5% extra on your weekly pay if your boxes are Class 1 that week.
- Our quality team spot-checks boxes at the scale in the field.
- Every week starts fresh – a bad week does not count for the next one.
Season bonus
€150from 1,000 good boxes
€250from 1,500 good boxes
Only Class 1 boxes count. You get one season bonus, not both.
Performance
- Target: at least 4 boxes of Class 1 per hour on average over the season.
- Harvest volumes change with the weather – we know that.
- New to picking? Motivated beginners improve quickly during the harvest.
- If you are below the standard, our quality team will train you in the field.

160 boxes count towards the season bonus.
Your working time and every box are recorded with your personal ID card (scan code). Every week you receive the summary – in black and white, what you have done.
What is a good box?
Only Class 1 boxes count for box pay and bonuses. This is the difference:
Good box – Class 1
- red, healthy strawberries
- strawberries with green leaves (calyx)
- at least 5 kg per box
- your picker number is in the box
Bad box
- rotten strawberries
- bruises / pressure marks
- green (unripe) strawberries
- wrong weight

Frequently asked questions
When is the season?
The strawberry harvest runs from about May to mid-July. We agree the exact start date with you.
Do I need experience?
No. Motivated beginners are welcome. Our quality team in the field will show you how it works.
Does applying cost anything?
No. You pay no agency fee with us. If anyone asks you for money in our name, please contact us directly.
Can I work without an EU passport?
That depends on your country. Enter your nationality in the application and we will tell you whether it is possible. Unfortunately we cannot accept applications from Morocco or Egypt, because the visa process does not fit our season.
Can I come with friends or family?
With friends: yes, gladly. Write their names in the form and we will plan you in together. Married couples are unfortunately difficult: because of German social security rules, we can usually only employ one spouse as a seasonal worker. Write to us and we will check your case.
How can I see what I have earned?
Every box and every hour is scanned with your ID card. You receive the summary every week.
